Three Cheers for Frist

Condems Federal Response, Volunteers

Just when you thought it was safe to joke that Majority Leader Frist could perhaps help victims of Hurricane Katrina by diagnosing them via video tape (ala Terri Schiavo), he steps into the gap and not only promises oversight hearings on the federal response to the catastrophy, but also volunteers his services as a surgeon to the people in need.

This is leadership folks. Meanwhile Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert is still backing away from his comments that we should bull doze NOLA, and his attending a policital fundraiser and auctioning off one of his antique cars rather than flying back to DC to preside over the relief vote.

Bush meanwhile seems to be getting his legs on this issue.
