Bush's performance, in my opinion was a bit subpar. Oh, no Bush voter is going to defect over his performance, but he seemed tired and stammered more than is even normal for him. Only a few times, did the President's passionate beliefs in pre-emption, democracy in the middle-east and the right-ness of going into Iraq shine through. When Bush is 'on' he can be extremely effective and moving, his folksiness both sincere and touching. He wasn't as disciplined as he usually is and although he got in repeated barbs against Kerry for his comments on "Wrong war, wrong time, wrong place." He needed to do more to show he does have a plan to win the peace in Iraq.
Bush seemed tired and when Kerry was speaking, he appeared petulant and annoyed. Elephant so wanted to the Bush at his best, but Bush didn't really deliver the goods.
